About the Artist

I am a nature photographer based in Fairfield, Iowa; born 1978 in Czechoslovakia.

What kind of natural scenes could you possibly find in Iowa? Let me tell you, I have discovered amazing macro-world right outside my way to school. I have become so mesmerized by dew drops on the eyes of grasshoppers, compound eyes of praying mantis, and beautiful colors of butterfly's wings, that I've devoted my BFA work on insect photography.

In 2004 I was awarded Outstanding Student and local TV became interested in my nature photography.

I've became inspired and started to travel. I photograph insects and landscapes all over the USA and around the world, even my profession involves photography. I've joined the company, The Sky Factory that creates backlit wall and ceiling murals.

I've even been honored; won Grand Prize at The Rainforest Alliance‘s first annual Picture Sustainability Photo Contest; with main prize 7-day trip to Galapagos read more below.

Winning the Picture Sustainability Photo Contest is a milestone in my life, and it has inspired me to continue pursuing my passion for photographing nature. It warms my heart to know that my pictures touch people and can help support our endangered environment.

2008 - Grand Prize The Rainforest Alliance ‘s first annual Picture Sustainability Photo Contest.

Radim Schreiber of Fairfield, Iowa, was selected out of over 5,000 submissions as the grand prize winner for his color image of a butterfly.

Radim won a seven-day trip to the Galapagos Islands, a trip to New York City to attend the Rainforest Alliance annual gala, and a Fujifilm FinePix S100FS professional-level digital camera.

Art Wolfe selected the winning photos based on overall composition, creativity, artistic merit and relevance to the Rainforest Alliance mission.

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices, and consumer behavior.
